Penn Uptide Boat Rods

A leading light in the development of uptide casting from a boat, John Rawle was one of the first exponents of uptiding as we know it today. Careful blending of modern fibres and an innovative design ensures Penn uptide rods have all the qualities early pioneers found to be essential. Essentially the tip must be capable of deflecting with the tide to absorb wave action on the boat without dragging the lead out. In conjunction with the butt section it must also have the power to cast a lead well away from the boat and the resilience to control and subdue large, powerful fish in comparatively shallow water.

Penn INXS 2 Rods Top of the range INXS 2 Uptiders are serious rods for the serious angler. Quality blanks fitted out with quality fittings make these light but powerful rods a joy to use. Following the preferred configuration of 6ft 6in tip joined to a 3ft butt section, these 9ft 6in rods have a long 10in foregrip for when the going gets tough. Like all INXS 2 rods the blanks incorporate a complex carbon weave cloth offering remarkable strength while retraining a large amount of feeling. In addition we have produced a 9ft 6in, 4oz to 10oz uptide rod with rings and fittings specifically placed for the many anglers who feel happiest with a fixedspool reel. In conjunction with our legendary Spinfisher® SS our fixedspool uptider at last puts the fixedspool user on level pegging with multiplier man.
Penn Extreme 2 Rods Still remarkable value for money, Extreme 2 uptiders offer sophistication for the discerning angler looking for maximum performance at middle of the road prices. Similar configuration to the Extreme 2 and following convention, there are 2oz to 8oz and 4oz to 10oz models to offer sport fishing throughout the British and European waters.
Penn Powergraph Rods Powergraph uptiders continue the value for money principle with a pair of highly functional rods. Two 9ft 6in models rated at 2oz to 8oz and the more powerful 4oz to 10oz between them will cover all uptiding situations in UK waters for anglers on a monetary budget who do not want to compromise on performance.
Powergraph Up 'n' Downer Combining two butt sections with a common tip our new Up 'n' Downer allows you to swap from uptiding to downtiding in the blink of an eye. Attach a suitable reel to each of the two butt sections and you can convert from up to down or down to up tide fishing in as long as it takes to pull off one butt section and replace it with the other. The brainchild of Tony Kirrage, in downtide mode the 7ft 10in long rod is ideal for 12lb to 30lb class work. Switching butts gives you a conventional 9ft 6in uptider capable of casting 4oz to 10oz of lead way uptide. Two rods for the price of one makes sense for the occasional boat angler or if you simply have a budget to work to.
Penn Progression 3 Rods A single 4oz to 10oz model for the occasional uptider, Progression 3 continues the functional equipment at realistic prices theme. Two piece configuration comprising a long tip and short butt means there is no compromise on power.
