Penn Long Range Rods The 12ft 6in INXS 2 Long Range is designed to cast 125g to 175g with a high mounted reel. A 7ft tip joined to a 5ft 6in butt via a spigot provides both performance and convenience. Today ’s materials offer designers the chance to make lighter and more powerful rods than ever before. At 12ft 6in these rods offer a distinct advantage in the fishability stakes. Construction and length make them suitable for most casting styles, although methods that incorporate a progressive application of power will invariably produce the best results. Power is always available, but it is up to the caster when it comes into play. Multiplier users get eight intermediate lined rings from 10mm to 25mm. Coasters hold the reel in place over shrink tube, with an additional piece under the main layer to provide extra grip for the reel foot on the small diameter butt. Fixed-spool users get a set of six slightly larger, high stand off rings from 16mm to 40mm. These guides have been especially selected for use with modern fixed-spool reels like our new Surfmaster® that throw off smaller coils of line during the cast. Thin but comfortable colour coded EVA grips either side of a graphite screw winch incorporating inserts to hold the reel firmly and prevent the foot jamming with metal to metal contact. For casters who prefer a low mounted reel there is a 13ft version. More power has been built in throughout the rod to provide effortless performance on the beach with a low multiplier. The 6ft long parallel butt is joined to the 7ft 4in tip via a push-in connection. By simplifying the lead pick up process there is one less thing for the caster to worry about during the cast. Progressive power from a supple butt coupled to a powerful mid section and firm tip are calculated to make this an very user friendly rod, and it is. There are two models, one for multiplier and another for fixed-spool casters. The firm tip was developed to help maintain contact throughout the cast using whichever reel you prefer. Fixed-spool users get a lightweight graphite winch ideally placed for high reel use flanked by slim, comfortable colour coded EVA grips. The fitting also has inserts to hold the reel securely without jamming when you try to remove the reel. Rings are six high stand off from 16mm to 40mm ideally suited for use with a modern fixed spool.
