Penn GS Series Reels

Penn Standard 525 Multiplier The standard Penn 525 with its centrifugal braking system very quickly carved out a niche for itself on the beach. Excellent castability coupled to a rapid and powerful retrieve and bomb proof build quality makes it ideal for taking the rough with the smooth. Unlike conventional small beach reels our gears are designed to last and will not need replacing for a good many years, if ever in a lifetime.
Penn MAG 525 Multiplier However, three casts with a 525 incorporating a modified end cap with an adjustable rare earth magnet and smaller main bearing produced an astounding figure, 735 yards. That was the highest aggregate of any caster recorded in the USA style team event at the 1998 World Surfcasting Championships held in Texas. Three casts in blistering heat and high humidity, to give an average of 245 yards for Neil Mackellow. This got our engineers thinking and after much discussion and deliberation they came up with a magnetically braked 525. A sporty little number incorporating rare earth magnets on a sliding adjuster system. To reduce spool weight they mounted the bearings, aircraft quality of course, inside the spool, which rotates on a fixed stainless steel spindle. After some pretty tough testing this reel is now a reality. Here is a reel with a heavy duty ratchet, coaster friendly seat, HT100 multidisc drag system operated via an ergonomically designed star drag wheel and a high grade aluminium power handle fitted with a counter balance and soft grip handle. With a braking system to match its high speed spool configuration the MAG 525 is set to become THE reel, not only for the rough stuff but any application where long casting and smooth effortless retrieve is a requirement. The MAG 525 incorporates all the things you have come to expect from a reel with the Penn logo on it, plus what you would expect after a three times world casting champion has put it through its paces. First and foremost a reel with the ability to adjust to meet any situation on the beach, from a light breeze over your shoulder to a gale coming straight off the sea into your face.
Penn 535 Multiplier The larger 535 has long been dominant on rough ground marks where power reigns supreme. The 535 just keeps on going, taking all nature and anglers can throw at it. But all the time there is the ability to plant leads at extreme distances should the need arise. We now cater for boat anglers who prefer to use a 535 but where the 6:1 retrieve may be a little high. The 535 Uptide has the same bomb proof internals but with a lower gear ratio of 4. 25:1. The resulting slower retrieve allows more control over a fish in deep or fast flowing water.
Penn 545 & 555 Multipliers If you need greater line capacity and still want that awesome 6:1 retrieve, take a look at the 545. Same design, same features but a higher capacity spool. Heavyweight in the GS series is the 555, swallowing 600 yards of 20lb mono backed up by a 5. 3:1 retrieve.
